Happy Tuesday,

Various subjects:

1) The Scottsdale Concert:
Thanks to all who participated in the concert at Scottsdale Sunday
night. We had 48 singers and you sounded wonderful. This was certainly
one of our best concerts ever...the room sounded
great....instrumentalists added much to the sound...the singers did a
fine job...I didn't really hear any problems. If there were any, they
were minor. Thank you for fighting traffic, singing, smiling, being
patient during the picture-taking, etc.

The folks who attended the concert had many positive comments...my
friends from work really enjoyed the entire concert. My friend, Vimal,
said it was not what he expected at all..he did not know that you could
laugh in church....or shake hands and get to know others...he also said
that the music affected his emotions much more that he though
possible...keep praying for him.

Thanks to all of you who helped with setting up/tearing down/hauling the
risers...it's never a fun job, but it is necessary and important.

2) The Saturday Rehearsal/Marie Calendars lunch scheduled for Saturday
Nov 11th:
Due to several conflicts for that day, and due to lots of other concerts
throughout November, I've decided to cancel the extra rehearsal. We
seem to be learning the Christmas music pretty well....we'll focus
heavily on those songs during the next 4-6 weeks. I would like to
schedule a rehearsal/Marie Calendars lunch in January or February. It
was a lot of fun last year, and I think it would be beneficial to have a
similar event this year

3) A Message from Yvonne Olson:
Hi Chorale,
Months ago when Randy Olson (violinist) first rehearsed with the
chorale, several people asked if they could attend one of his Country
Western band concerts. We have finally put together a date of 11-11,
7:00-10:00 PM at Valley del Oro R.V. Park. It is located at 1452 S.
Ellsworth, Mesa. Ellsworth is closed due to freeway construction so take
Sossman to Baseline, left on Baseline and turn rt. on Ellsworth, located
just behind the gas station. You may come and go as you wish. Come late,
leave early, whatever! The cost is $6.00.
This is a sm. group of 4 people who perform at R.V. resorts, retirement
communities, etc. 2-5 times per wk. They are called "Reigning Country
Western Band". It is a fun, informal evening where we sit around round
tables, eat munchies, beverages, fellowship, line dance or ballrm. dance
if you are so inclined. It is a very clean environment and Randy is the
comic fiddler. You don't need reservations. Bring a bag of munchies to
share if you'd like and a beverage for yourself. Our little 3 yr. old
granddaughter has a great time so it's alright to bring your children or
grandchildren. I doubt there is a charge for children but if there is,
we will just make them Randy's guests!
Questions: Call Yvonne Olson 480-926-0320 or e-mail, yonaz at cox.net

4) Helpers:
A) If any of you would be willing to help hand out/explain seating and
standing charts at the beginning of rehearsals, Kathy and I would really
appreciate it. I can give you the charts (or I could email a word
document and you could duplicate, cut them up, etc), but if someone
other than Kathy could be responsible to help with this it would take
some of the pressure off during pre-concert set-up. You probably should
not take on this assignment if you frequently miss concerts.

B) We also need someone who could be the CD sales person....perhaps even
make an announcement about the CD's...set up the display, etc. Thus
far, I just set a box with a sign at the back...that does not seem to be
working well. You probably should be a friendly, 'outgoing' type of
person to do this job well.

C) We also need someone who could be the designated
'Music-bringer'---i.e. bring folders with sets of music for those who
have missed concerts. Currently, Kathy and I try to do this, but it can
be a challenge. You would have to make up sets of music prior to
concerts and then bring it to the concert and get it to the folks who
need the music. Once we have this person designated, it will be up to
the singers to contact the 'Music bringer' and inform them that music is
needed.

D) We also need someone who can help with handing out concert 'programs'
to those at the concerts. At churches, you could simply get the programs
to ushers, etc.

E) We really need someone who can be in charge of getting risers to and
from concerts...a 'Riser Captain'. This does not mean that the
Riser-Captain would have to haul, setup, tear-down, and return the
risers for every concert. We have several folks who have vehicles and
are willing to haul the risers... we cab have a list of possible
drivers, and the Riser Captain could try to 'spread around the fun'. If
I could get someone to help with this particular task, it would be
greatly appreciated. As it is now, I'm always 'fretting' about how to
get the risers to and from the concerts.

If you are willing to help with any of these tasks, please let me know.
