Hello Chorale,
Thanks again for your support of the chorale...without your participation,
there would be no chorale. We had 36 singers and 70-80 in the audience. I
heard lots of positive comments after the concert. Thanks to Amy for
helping on the keyboard and Larry on the bass guitar. The activity
director, DJ, said that it was very inspiring and that he really enjoyed the
concert. Thanks also to Yvonne for setting up the concert. I've forwarded
an update on Paul below.
Next Concert: 3 weeks away...October 15th, 6:00 PM at Scottsdale Nazarene.
In the past we've had good attendance at this location and the piano and
room acoustics are very nice. I hope you will all plan to be there. It
would be nice to have the singers that are listed on the program :)
See you Tuesday. (Based on those of you who've informed me that you cannot
make it, I'm expecting 48 at rehearsal! Let's see what the future really
holds.)
Bruce
PS: Just a reminder... Please continue to keep me informed regarding your
plans when you have to miss rehearsals and concerts. Yesterday, I was
removing 5-6 chairs from the risers right up to moments prior to the
concert. Several of our singers 'forgot' to let me know :(
And, it really helps if you send me an email (bcochran_gsv at cox.net) or hand
me a note during rehearsal. When 6-8 people come up on at Tuesday and
verbally inform me of absences in the future, it can be a challenge to
recall all that info when I get home after rehearsals, etc. When you say "I
might not be there", I'm not sure how to plan...I guess I should reply,
"Then, we might not have a chair for you" :) reminds me of the following
sent to me by Rita Barrow:
Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane but only a high school
diploma to fix one. After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form,
called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the
aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the
form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never
let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor.
Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots
(marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by
maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that
has never had an accident.
P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.
P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.
P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.
P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.
P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.
P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.
P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.
P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what they're for.
P: IFF inoperative.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.
P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.
P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.
P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.
P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.
P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.
And the best one for last.................
P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding
on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget

Subject: Paul Update
Hi,
Paul had an angiogram today at the Az. Heart Hosp. following the chest pain
on Sat. They were unable to do a balloon or heart stent as an artery is too
narrow (stenosis) to allow the procedure. The doctors say that he has
coronary heart disease but a rehab. program should help the heart grow new
bypasses. Several new meds will be introduced. We're thankful that it wasn't
a heart attack so no new damage to the heart. What is so ironic is that 10
days ago he had his annual nuclear stress test and blood work and came thru
with flying colors. What do you believe???
We know that God is in control and this is a warning that Paul needs to be
more aggressive with his physical exercise. Thanks for your prayers, please
continue.
Yvonne
