Hello Chorale,

Some affirmations.

I want to thank you all for your participation in our concert last Tuesday
at Friendship Village. We had 56 singers (a new record number singers in
any concert). The sound was really great, and you did a very nice job on
all the songs. Steve Marsh, our video/audio recording expert, said that he
was impressed with the sound. He described the sound as being vocally,
"tight".meaning you are all in sync, moving your mouths at the same time.
Thanks specially to Amy Brown for her accompanying us on many songs that
she'd only seen during one rehearsal prior to the concert. She did a fine
job. Once again, your contribution has added joy and encouragement to
others' lives. One lady told me afterwards, "that's the best choir I've
ever heard." I know that we may not be doing everything perfectly, but the
Lord is allowing us to be an encouragement, just the same.

We also had a great time at Marie Callender's after the concert. Thanks to
everyone who participated. It was a good time of getting re-acquainted with
each other, making new friends, etc.

Some things to work on.

We've begun to get a bit too lax about discipline during the concert.too
much talking, moving, messing with your music, and other distractions in
between the songs. I go to quite a bit of effort to keep you informed of
the order of songs, etc. Please get your music in the proper order prior to
the concert so you don't have to be shuffling it around 'on-the-fly'..that
is more distracting than you think. Many of you attended the Concordia
Choir concert last Saturday night..compare our concert discipline with
theirs..there was absolutely no talking, laughing, or other distractions
from the choir.if 75 college kids can do it, so can we. Sometimes you may
be tempted to think that no one notices, but others do, and it limits our
effectiveness. (It can also become a source of resentment from other
singers in the chorale.) Let's not be 'stumbling blocks' to anyone.

I would like to encourage you to take this as a private challenge to raise
your own standard of concert behavior.

Thanks again for your help with this.

Bruce
