Good Morning Chorale,

Thanks to everyone who was able to sing in Sunday's concerts. We had a
large number of singers for both concerts, and good number in the
audience for both.

We really appreciate that Amy Brown could accompany us for the
concerts...particularly since she spent several days in the hospital
last week. She was still not feeling 100%, but she was willing to play
for us just the same. Thanks to Amy for sharing her talent and
enthusiasm with us...without her help, there would have been no concerts
yesterday. She had to deal with lots of songs she'd never played
before, and she had to deal with pianos that could have used a tuning
(within the last century).

The first concert was held in a room that had extremely loud
acoustics...we probably need to work a bit more on our dynamics...at
times the choir was so loud, it was getting close to the threshold of
pain. When in 'live' rooms like that, we need to work hard to achieve a
soft volume. That concert was a real challenge given the un-tuned
piano, loud acoustics, warm temperature, announcements over the PA
system during the concert, as well as the attendants taking Lemonade and
cookie orders. At times it was difficult to remember what I was trying
to say.

You sounded much better for the second concert. The primary challenge
for that concert was the 'split-audience'...half on each end of a large
room with lots of pillars, and other obstacles that blocked view. I
also appreciate that the singers were very quiet for the second concert
when it was difficult to talk to two sides of the room at the same time.
You really helped me.

The folks in both concerts did appear to enjoy the music...in spite of
our non-typical concert conditions.

Remember: This week only, we are rehearsing in the Ministry Center not
the choir room. Men with the portable risers, please return them to the
choir room before coming over to the ministry center for
rehearsal....I'll have the choir room unlocked.

The ministry center is the building located southwest of the choir
room/worship center.

See you Tuesday.

Bruce

PS: If you know any interested basses or tenors, please bring them :)
