Weekend freeway restrictions in Phoenix area (Nov. 2-5); Southbound Loop 101
closed in Scottsdale area

Several improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions
along sections of Valley freeways this weekend. The Arizona Department of
Transportation (ADOT) recommends drivers consider alternate routes while the
following restrictions are in place:

*         Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between 90th Street and
Chaparral Road in the Scottsdale area from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday
(Nov. 5) for work on the new carpool lanes construction project. Southbound
Loop 101 traffic will exit at 90th Street, go south on Pima Road and east on
Chaparral Road to return to the freeway. The southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at
Shea Boulevard also closed. Drivers should consider exiting Loop 101 ahead
of the closure and using alternate routes, including southbound State Route
51 to eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), to avoid heavy traffic on
the detour route.

*         North and southbound Interstate 17 ramps to westbound I-10 and the
southbound I-17 ramp to eastbound I-10 at the "Stack" interchange south of
McDowell Road closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 4) for
rubberized asphalt paving. Traffic will detour on local streets, including
McDowell Road, Van Buren Street and Adams Street, while the ramps at the
Stack are being resurfaced with the quiet pavement.

*         Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane
between Meridian and Mountain View roads in the Apache Junction area from 9
p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 4) for rubberized asphalt paving.
Westbound US 60 off-ramp at Signal Butte Road and westbound on-ramp at
Crismon Road closed. Drivers are encouraged to give themselves extra travel
time and to be prepared to merge safely approaching the work zone.

*         Northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane
between Northern Avenue and Grand Avenue in the West Valley from 7 a.m. to 7
p.m. both Saturday (Nov. 3) and Sunday (Nov. 4) for rubberized asphalt
paving along the new merge lanes in that area. Drivers are encouraged to
give themselves extra travel time and to be prepared to merge safely
approaching the work zone.

*         Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane in each direction between Happy
Valley Road and Carefree Highway in north Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday to 7
a.m. Saturday (Nov. 3) for lane striping work. Drivers are encouraged to
give themselves extra travel time and to be prepared to merge safely
approaching the work zone.

*         Loop 303 closed in both directions between Peoria Avenue and
Cactus/Waddell roads in the Surprise area from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m.
Monday (Nov. 5) for utility work. Traffic will detour on local streets,
including Cotton Lane and Sarival Road.
