Happy Monday,
Thanks to everyone who participated in the concert last night at Lost
Dutchman in Apache Junction. We had 51 singers plus orchestra, and the
sound was exceptionally nice.
I realize that some of you had to drive quite a distance to participate,
and your sacrifice is greatly appreciated. (The longest drives included
distances of 35 and 42 miles!)
Kim Youngblood, our Oboist, commented that there were numerous times
during the concert that she was noting how nice the choir sounded. The
folks at Lost Dutchman were very appreciative and enthusiastic about the
concert. Thank you for giving your best. The instruments added much to
the concert's effectiveness.
Thanks to Chuck Beatty for hauling the risers..to those who helped to
load/unload/setup the risers for the concert.
Reminder: We have only 2 rehearsals prior to our first Christmas
concerts on Sunday afternoon, December 2....and three rehearsals until
our Crossroads concert.
Allergy problems are impacting many of our singers....avoid being out
doors more than absolutely necessary.
I realize that this is Thanksgiving week, so I would appreciate it if
you could remind me if you will be missing rehearsal Tuesday. I'd like
to know how many seats we really need. At some point in the near future,
we may need to move into the sanctuary to accommodate everyone.
Thanks to you all,
Bruce

An excerpt from a book by Dennis Rainey:
Putting the "Thanks" Back in Thanksgiving
Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds
among the peoples.
1 Chronicles 16:8
We often hear about the need to put Christ back into Christmas. But in
our culture, when the Christmas shopping season is in full swing by
mid-November,
many families find that Thanksgiving is little more than a nice meal to
kick off a whirlwind of Yuletide activities.
When we think of Thanksgiving, we think of a family feast. It's "Turkey
Day."
In fact, some school textbooks say that the Pilgrims' original
celebration was organized to thank the Indians for helping them!
Even historians are forgetting that the Pilgrims originally feasted to
thank God who had given them the courage and perseverance to overcome
tremendous hardships.
Thanksgiving can be one of the most meaningful holidays of the year...if
you give it the right focus.
What are 10 things for which you are thankful? Think about it this
week.
