Hello Chorale Friends,
1) Thanks and congratulations to everyone who was able to participate in the concert at Mesa Regal Sunday night.
I felt it was a very effective concert, and I appreciate everyone's contribution. We had 95 singers and about 750 in the audience. The offering was $1,612.
The orchestra was one of the finest that we've had...one of the high-school violinists told me afterwards, "I love your choir. They're great!" Another violinst told me that the whole experience was just what she needed. She had been feeling depressed and the concert was very encouraging.
I heard many positive comments regarding the concert...one man said, "This was a taste of heaven!" Many expressed their appreciation of the ministry of the chorale.
Thank you all for your flexibility, your willingness to sit anywhere, to help out weaker singers, and to do whatever it took to make the concert work.
I really appreciate your support and enthusiasm. You are a pleasure to work with!
2) We will be rehearsing in the Ministry Center this Tuesday.
3) Some had asked for a reminder about who had volunteered to help setup/put away the music. Here's our schedule:
First Tuesday: Peggy Gilbertsen
Second Tuesday: Doc Brown
Third Tuesday: Al and Dorothy Baderman
Fourth Tuesday: Barb Handley
Fifth Tuesday: Janet Price (since this occurs rarely, maybe come on the third Tuesday too?)
4) Our next concert will be held at Chandler United Methodist Church (Amy Brown's church). The concert will be on Sunday, March 9th at 4:00 PM.... (This concert was originally scheduled to be held at Apache Wells RV park, but had to be changed due to schedule confusion...on their part). We will be singing two songs with some of the members of the Methodist church...Old time Religion medley and Written in Red. Please note the concert is at 4:00 PM.
5) I had mentioned the possiblilty of singing at a church in Payson. They are very interested in having us in late September...not during the summer as originally planned.
Please read information below regarding the concert. I would like some additional feedback regarding your intent/willingness to sing so we can let the church know of our plans.
Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm,
Bruce

An update on the Payson Concert at the Ponderosa Baptist Church.
The Poderosa Baptist Church in Payson is quite eager to have the chorale come and present a concert. A date for September 28th is pending with a 3:00 concert time. The church seats 235, and is planning on inviting other churches in the area. They are also considering the possibility of renting a high school auditorium.
It takes about 1½ hours to get to the Payson church from Chandler . When we passed around a "preliminary interest sheet" last month, we had 36 singers who indicated they were willing to go to Payson for a concert. Many wanted to return home early in the evening. The response was somewhat "mixed", so we are trying to give you more information to help with planning, etc.
We would need to leave the valley by 1:00 PM at the latest in order to arrive and get set up prior to the concert. With a 3:00 concert, it should be possible to get back to Phoenix by approximately 6:00 PM (still daylight). Due to the likelihood of unplanned illnesses and other unexpected conflicts, we need at least 45 singers who currently intend to go...in order to have a reasonable number of singers when the concert takes place. If there is not sufficient interest from the group, we will need to decline their invitation.
Carpooling is encouraged. Those of you who are able to drive are greatly appreciated. We will have a sign-up sheet for you, and those who need a ride can contact a driver. Perhaps each of us can share the cost of gas.
For those who have the time, we could stop for supper together on our return trip. For those of you who did not sign up previously, please consider the opportunity to go to Payson.
We will send around the sign-up sheet again Tuesday night. We need to let the Payson church know our intent by this weekend.
