Hello Chorale,
Last Tuesday, March 4th, was the Chorale's 9-year anniversary! We still have 7 singers who were at the very first rehearsal. Thanks to everyone who makes the group so fun and effective. I appreciate your consistent support and enthusiastic participation in the chorale.

Just a reminder: Dues ($40 in March and September) are currently 'due'. You can make checks payable to East Valley Chorale. Please give your dues to Kathy Cochran. If you recently joined and already paid, you don't have to pay again. Our dues help to purchase music and pay for accompanists, orchestra members, etc.
Doc Brown recently found some 'octavo folders' that are smaller than the large notebooks we currently use for concerts. These folders can hold a 'concert's worth' of music, but will give us much more room on the risers. The chorale will cover the cost of buying these folders. Each singer will be supplied with one (at no charge)...it will be your responsibility to keep the folder...lost folders can be replaced for $10. This will help us avoid having to 'haul' the folders back and forth to/from the music storage area. I'll let you know when they arrive.
I'm looking forward to our concert Sunday. It looks like we should have a good group singing. Be sure to bring your smiles. The folks at the church are very excited to have us come and sing. We will do two songs with some of the members of their choir: Old Time Religion medley, and Written in Red. Note we will be singing in a brand-new facility. Please be careful setting up the risers, etc....they will be placed on a new hardwood floor. Be nice...we want them to invite us back.
Bruce
PS: Please get to know some of our newest singers: Pat Symons, Rhonda Brent, Laura Douglas, and Ruth Lewis...all ALTOS!!!!
PS#2: Let me know which of the current songs we are doing that you like the best.
"To sing like this, in the company of other souls, and to make those consonants slip out so easily and in unison, and to make those chords so rich that they bring tears to your eyes. This is transcendence. This is the power that choral singing has that other music can only dream of."
---Garrison Keillor, the "Praire Home Companion Guy"
